Digital and Μedia Literacy for Youth Leaders
Digital and Μedia Literacy for Youth Leaders
The project “Digital and Media Literacy for Youth Leaders” is an eight months project implemented by the Center for Social Innovations Blin 42-21 and Digital Communication Network Global that will provide youth with digital and media literacy skills. These skills will support them to analyze, evaluate and create effective messages on a wide variety of digital mediums. The project is financed by the Erasmus + small scale partnership program.
Through the project a virtual training program with six module has been developed. The program will provide participants with the opportunity to learn by experts in journalism, social media campaigns, digital storytelling, community engagement, internet security, data analysis, media literacy, and combating disinformation. Moreover, the program provides an overview of the main areas of contemporary media and prepare participants with the skills needed to excel in the digital world.
The training program includes the following modules: Critical thinking, Disinformation & Accountability, Development of Digital campaigns for Civic Engagement, Media literacy against Disinformation, Media literacy in practice, Transmedia storytelling and International news literacy and learning about the world.
The official beginning of the program was on July 22nd with formal opening from the coordinators, the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Spain in North Macedonia and the Director of the National Agency for European Educational Programmes and Mobility in North Macedonia. Around 50 participants are currently enrolled in the training program and are following the modules.
After the virtual training program the participants are expected to actively build on the training by applying the knowledge and skills obtained in their country and in their working places. After the training programs teams of the participants formed during the program will continue to accelerate their ideas and actions on how they can address joint social issues through the application of their acquired skills from the training. They will work together online, will have sessions with assigned mentors for them from the DCN Network of experts, and will finalize their ideas. The ideas can be, but not specifically focused on ideas for the creation of digital tools, updating of the already existing tools, campaigns, and others. They will not be required to develop the final solution, just to develop it in a stage of idea with a specific plan for its realization.
20 participants will have the opportunity to present the idea during the study visit in Greece at the Thessaloniki International Media Summer Academy 2022.
See you in THISAM with a lot of multimedia products motivated by this virtual training program.
