Satomi Sugiyama (Ph.D. Rutgers University) is Professor of Communication and Media Studies at Franklin University Switzerland. Her research and teaching interests focus on emerging communication technologies and how they intersect with personal relationships, identity, culture, and fashion. Throughout her career, she has been presenting her research widely in international conferences and events. Her work has been published in such journals as New Media and Society, Fashion Theory, Continuum, First Monday, and International Journal of Social Robotics, as well as in edited books by Palgrave-Macmillan, Springer, Peter Lang, and Transaction.
