Nikolina Borčić, PhD, is an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Political Science, University of Zagreb. She holds two doctoral degrees, one in Linguistics and another in Communication Sciences, both focused on political communication and communicology within media text. Her research explores the informative and persuasive functions of communication in media discourse, with particular emphasis on persuasion strategies, self-presentation, identity and image construction. Her work examines how media texts employ storytelling, argumentation, and verbal and nonverbal communication to shape public perception and potentially influence audiences across political, media, and popular culture contexts. She teaches courses on political communication, celebrity image management, communication strategies, media language and stylistics, short journalistic forms, thematic journalism, and storytelling as a tool for identity and image construction in public communication. Borčić has published more than 50 scientific papers and presented her research at over 40 domestic and international conferences. She is the author of The Devil is in the Detail: Image and Discourse in Politics (2023) and co-author of Celebrity Propaganda (2025).
